The Drug Trap
A thirteen year old boy, who has never known his father, has found no other way to help his hemiplegic mother and his seven year old sister but to steal. Not being able to afford the cost of his mother’s medicaments and his sister’s school, he was led into the drug world. Starting by the simple traffic, he soon fell in the trap and became an addict.
Since we have met him, a guy in our organization has taken to his charge to accompany him through his ordeal. With time, they started to meet weekly as to teach him to read and write and thus enable him to reintegrate society. With constant follow-up and tremendous efforts from his side, he has been able to quit using drugs but is still selling some in order to fulfill his family’s needs.
This is just one of many similar cases that need our awareness and contribution. It is crucial never to give up on such cases that require our constant support, even when it seems quite desperate and hopeless.
On 30/12/08 – OPV is born!
Yes, OPV’s birthday is on the 30/12/08! Although work started much earlier, we are now officially gathered under one roof in our offices in Damour!
